About Daniels Music

Music has been an interest of mine for years. I've always enjoyed going to concerts, I've seen different bands (with & without talent) get recognized, and I realized that many of my friends had no idea my favorite bands even existed. I wanted to share the music, the lyrics, and the details about upcoming shows, so I started a website.

Years ago, it had mp3 files for download, pages of lyrics, links to the official band websites, a list of upcoming concerts in my area, and other information. But along came Google, Myspace, Purevolume, and lyric websites providing specifically what my pages had, and they contained much more than I had time to keep up with. I didn't mind; in fact I welcomed the countless new services the internet was providing for music fans like myself. Bands began seeing potential in the internet as a place to gain fans, so the promotion groups, street teams, and music sites sprung up.

I stopped adding content to my site that was already being provided elsewhere, and instead just shared the links to the sites that did the best job promoting good music. One thing I still saw a lack of was live concert pictures. People wanted to see what their favorite bands looked like, and webhosting space to store the photos was expensive. This of course changed when companies like Photobucket, Webshots, and Flickr started up. Now users have plenty of options to store their photos, and can easily post them online with Myspace, Facebook, and Xanga.

With concert pictures, however, the shots I take are unique, which means they are something I can continue to provide on the site. I do not claim to be a professional photographer; in fact most of the pictures on this site really need help. But failure after so many times will provide examples on how to improve, which is what I would like to do. If you see an excellent photograph in the image gallery, its most likely because I didn't plan it that way, and it so happened to turn out decently.

One other part of the site that has remained, the blog, is my thoughts about music and life in general. Blogs have been a major trend in recent years, and one of the main reasons I enjoy sharing my thoughts is because they can occasionally help people deal with certain issues, provide awareness to important causes, or just inform friends about news. So if you see any topics of interest in the blog, subscribe to it, bookmark it, or leave a comment.

That's basically how the site came about, and it's mainly listed here for my own future reference. Thank you to anyone who has helped out over the years, and thank you for taking the time to visit.
